Java is given an amount of memory either by the LaunchConfig.ini or by a mod of some sort (usually). If no memory is specified, Java will use up to a certain amount based upon your total available memory.

Do check to see if you have any Java installations already on your computer. If you do, ensure they are 64-bit.

Disable all modifications you may have installed or made to the client. As Xype mentioned, modifications can cause issues as the client is being modified outside of our known parameters. We cannot troubleshoot with mods.

Ensure your drivers are up-to-date. For nVidia, we are aware of an issue with the latest drivers and some cards. This issue should be fixed in the newly released beta, but a driver roll-back may help the current version.

Lastly, the beta release happened today. Give that a shot and see if you notice anything different. Keep in mind that youi'll need to run it locally or on beta servers.

I know this is an extremely old thread but I have recently solved this problem on my machine and the solution has not been mentioned in any thread that I searched. I found that I had the following environment variable on my PC:

JAVA_OPTIONS -XmX512m

This sets the MAX heap size to just 512Mb! I was able to fix the problem by editing this, but the better solution was to simply delete that variable completely and in that way the settings in the LaunchConfig.ini are picked up correctly. I hope this helps somebody!
