Try switching your game settings from fullscreen, to windowed or resizable. I think I had the same problem some years ago, and remember this fixed it for me.

Did not work unfortunately but thanks for the effort.

Usually with wurm it's a settings issue. Maybe when you last played, you changed some settings. Click the cog-wheel from the launcher and try this:

- Under compatibility, set everything to Core, uncheck all other boxes
- Post-Process, Resolution Scale 100%, uncheck all other boxes
- Graphics:
- Windowed Fullscreen
- Renderer: Modern (also try legacy)
- Adv. Graphics:
- Uncheck "Vsync", "Contribution culling" and "Use normal mapping"

If you still get a blackscreen, we'd have to look at your logs, the game probably throws an error in there:
..\Steam\steamapps\common\Wurm Unlimited\WurmLauncher\PlayerFiles

Unable to view the file in your dropbox.

Since we got AI now, I asked Leo, the AI in the brave browser:

How to fix a black screen in Wurm Unlimited?

To fix a black screen issue in Wurm Unlimited, you can try several methods:

Change Display Settings: Ensure that the resolution is set correctly. If the resolution is set incorrectly, it can cause a black screen. Set the resolution to match your desktop resolution or a supported resolution by your graphics card.
Run in Windowed Mode: Some players have reported success by running the game in windowed mode instead of fullscreen. This can be done by changing the display mode in the game settings.
Disable Post-Processing Effects: Disabling post-processing effects such as Bloom and Vignette can help resolve issues with black screens on NVIDIA GPUs.
Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause graphical issues.
Check Java Version: Make sure you are using the correct version of Java, specifically the 64-bit version if you are running a 64-bit operating system. Running the game with the wrong Java version can lead to display issues.
Check Log Files: Review the log files for any error messages that might provide clues about the cause of the black screen. These logs can be found in the game's logs directory if logging is enabled.
Try Safe Mode: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you can try booting the game in Safe Mode. This can be accessed through the Advanced options in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the black screen issue in Wurm Unlimited.

No further ideas if that doesn't help.

Yeah, I think that works. But it asks me to sign up for dropbox... which I'm not willing to do at this moment (sorry).

Let's see if others can access the file for you, and that they can detect the issue for you.
There is a small download link at the top but thanks.
Any other ideas where or how i can send or email an old fashioned txt file?

Personally I use pastebin.com for text files. If you can upload there I am happy to take a look at the file, but I'm not an expert.

Ok its under gaming set to public and titled Wurm error but cant see a save button but maybe you can see it?
Celebeth Mar 20 @ 8:21pm
You shouldn't need an account to upload at pastebin. Simple paste the log in the paste area. Below you see a couple of dropdown boxes, you don't really need to mess with them, unless you like to. Below that is a button "Create a new paste", which should upload the file. Then return the URL you get. :)
