Tree harvesting and fruit

Is it possible to harvest fruit (olives, apples, cherries, etc.) off the trees we find in the forest? If so what is the tool or skill I am missing?

You need to harvest them with a sickle, and you can only do it in a very narrow window when that particular tree is ready to harvest, which depends on the in-game season. If you examine a tree when the fruit is ready, it will say that it has the fruit on it.

It will say "harvestable." Very old trees won't be harvestable but if the fruit is in season they can sometimes be pruned and then harvested. If the season last long enough you can get a second harvest in with some trees.

Okay, thanks. Must have just missed it, or it's about to happen as I found a lot of trees with the Pruning option while I was searching for sprouts.

Pick the sprouts and plant them near your deed. Then you won't have to go so far to find fruit.

I am trying to fond some Olive trees on the server I play on to get sprouts from and plant near my deed to get olive oil later.
