Is there any point to play the adventure mode as opposed to the creative mode?
I just bought this game. I've gone through a tonne of youtube footage just to get the basics. So now I'm "receiving information" or questing and I've run face first into the bartender bug (no option to get refreshments)... from what I've read this is due to incompatible server/faction settings (something about using a home server or PVE that prevents the player from having the same faction as the bartender). So I've deleted my server folder (again) and now I'm redownloading it. I won't be changing any settings, hopefully I'll be able to complete the tutorial. I really don't want to keep having to do this or spend hours digging through the internet. Most Youtube video appears to use the creative mode. So I guess I'm looking for an experienced opinion. Is there any point to bother with the adventure mode or is the creative mode the better gameplay experience?

Well the bartender only give one refreshment every 24 hours so if you already ask for it you will cant ask again in 24 hours (right click and Ask for refreshment). And for the best experience i recommend join a server (i im in sklotopolis) because you can join other people settlement or make yours, also there are already roads, other deeds/builds etc.

Thank you for your response. I managed to get past that portion of the tutorial by starting over again from scrath and not changing any of the server settings. Right now I'm trying I'm at the mining portion of the tutorial. This is proving to be the toughest one yet because I don't have the skill to mine anything diagonal. I've tried digging straight down figuring that I would eventually hit stone but that didn't work. I ended up hitting water.

I think eventually I'll learn enough about the game mechanics to be able to join a server.

Honestly adventure mode is pretty much an afterthought. It has some limited tutorial and some kind of storyline to follow, but that's not what the game is really about.

"Creative" is the core of the game. You will learn more and quicker from watching videos and/or playing with other players. There are plenty active servers out there with players that will happily take a total noob and show them the ropes.

Also if you ever played Minecraft, Wurm "creative" is nothing like Minecraft creative, it's more similar to what MC calls survival. Some people have hang ups on that term.
