Alliance Space Guard - The New "Rogue System"
"ASG is a sandbox space simulation game with a focus on physics and systems.

You will take command of a CSN F9 “Carbon Arrow” class frigate, one of the best pieces of astronautical engineering Alliance taxpayer money can offer."

I saw this being mentioned in the discord and I couldn't find any post about it on Steam so I thought this should be put to people's attention who wanted to see a game like "Rogue System". Personally, I'm very surprised this has flown under the radar.

Indeed, really interesting! Can't see any buy or download opportunity on their site, though, did i miss something?

Thanks for sharing! If you look up on YT Dave c.elington (channel) he has 12 videos of the project ;-)

I too would like to know if one could buy this...

No. It's currently in its development stages. The creator has been working on it since 2014 and is still making progress. I just thought I should give some hope and support out there.

And you're very welcome! This kind of simulator is too rare, it's nice to discover some hidden ones! Thanks a lot for sharing, i'll look closely at it!

Thanks for the info... It´s still great news to know that someone is in the making of this type and level of space craft simulation. Also that we know who and where to follow such a project.

Again, thank you!

Great to see something like this in the works. Thanks for sharing!

Nice find! Thanks for sharing, surely it will be an instabuy for me.

I don't really see how this is comparable - judging from the images there is no actual "cockpit view", let alone a first-person presence in that game.

It's comparable on the basis of being able to control the ship, even down to the engineering systems that allow it to operate. I'm not sure what you mean by "cockpit view" but I'm sure that this video can address that: https://youtu.be/xzfIxpn8-ZY

I do not believe there is a first-person physical presence. However, you do have multiple panels under your control in order to operate the ship, as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/GmyfFZwxygs

So it's not actually comparable as far as the "DCS in space"-aspect is concerned. Got it.

is this the game made by the fans on the discord server?

I don´t think so. It´s being developed by D.C. Elington as far as I know.

I didn't see how to order the game. Anything to do other than signing up for the newsletter?

Thank you for sharing. This is definitely one to follow.

This developer (David Elington) seems to be more on track with how gameplay can be derived in this genre.

I have seen all the videos now and I'm hooked. I would pay right now.

Though I think IVA and EVA has merit, I don't think I would be missing the cockpit view itself. Putting a window on a space hull makes little sense, design wise. It's an obvious weak point in the fuselage and the view is limited. As long as you have vision of everything, it doesn't matter that it is achieved through some futuristic camera to VR tech.

It also seems to me that the orbital mechanics, gravity wells and delta-v budget will be better. Not only in route planning, milk runs etc, but also interception and combat. I didn't really understand how the combat aspect of Rogue System was envisioned.
