Will Le Mans 24 hour disaster kill rFactor2?
Will this kill rF2? I tried to watch the official Le Mans 24 hour sim race at several times yesterday, but all there was being streamed were replays and shots of drivers looking fed up not being able to drive. It was probably the biggest thing in sim racing, The race was run on rF2. It was ruined due to a series of faults with rF2 and their servers. Max Verstappen said he would never play rF2 again, he would uninstall it and advises everyone else do the same.

It doesn't really effect me as I don't race multiplayer, but this is a really hard blow for rF2.

Those who are veterans, like me who have been using it since 2013/2014, remember well how it was until the ISIs did everything. Since they came out it has been a continuous sinking because more and more bugs have accumulated over time that have never been fixed, especially in multiplayer, in fact before such a thing (continuous disconnections) almost never happened, and even then it they also did endurance races of 24 hours.

Having said that, surely Verstappen will not be the only one who will uninstall rF2 forever, when the same problem occurs for several years you ask yourself a few questions, it is definitely not worth it anymore, especially when you prepare a single race for several weeks or months .

If they spend less time developing useless cars and circuits and just focus on fixing the hundreds of bugs plaguing this sim, maybe then they can reconsider using it again.

Simracing is already a very niche sector, with these things here it certainly does not favor its growth, on the contrary ...

Has anyone presented any actual evidence that there was a DDOS attack on the hosting server? All I've found is people speculating and/or raising allegations that this was caused by a DDOS attack.

If there was a DDOS attack on the server (or the facility providing the server's Internet connection) then most, if not all, race participants would have been experiencing similar problems.

Or was it a DDOS attack targeting Max, specifically?

How many other participants lost connection to the rF2 host?

The alleged DDOS attacks caused a red flag 2 times which lasted over an hour. After that random people/teams got dropped from the server every now and then. A lag spike decided to blow up Fordzillas (they were leading at one point) engine causing a DNF.

For big public events, for sure, this is not the way to run them unless you want to be a joke.

I have driven more time in fF2 than any other sim, so I am not a hater, I like the game. This situation might increase the exodus of players to more modern sims. fFactor 2 has not been managed properly, not enough bug repairs, too much focusing on new content rather than replacing the pathetic standard of some of the original content (I still have some content with black sheets over the thumbnails for christ sake). I would say 50% of the content looks outdated and tired.

The developers need to spend all of their time making the sim dependable, smooth and reliable.

Regardless who is responsible for that desaster.
The damage done will not so easy be repared. That is more or less the worst publicity you can get, if a F1 champion says everyone should uninstall that game.

I hope they lose the le mans license, without consequences they will continue without fixing the tons of bugs
