But the lifetime version on discount has the price of a normal game with online included.
Purchase Options
There are basically three different options if you want to purchase rFactor 2:
You can buy "rFactor 2" and enjoy every aspect of this simulation except on-line racing.
You can buy "rFactor 2 with Lifetime Subscription" and enjoy every aspect of this simulation including a lifetime subscription to on-line racing.
You can buy 'rFactor 2" and a separate "rFactor 2 - Online Services Subscription" which gives you the full simulation plus a year worth of on-line racing which you can renew.
My point was, what mods do you get with the Steam version only, I do not think I ahve the key anymore for RF2, as I gave up with it.
But was fairly impressed with this new demo
You get all vanilla content, and access to all the great mods, although many not made it to workshop yet you can still DL and use RF2 mod installer.
There seems to be somekind of preception that some have, that you pay for mods, which isnt true AT ALL, theres only 1 paid mod outta a sea of mods worth mentioning, but its a pro job, with him doing models for ISI and SMS, this paid for mods thing seems to stem from some crazy prediction t2years ago when everyone saying rf2 was so complex modders would need to charge, thats not happened at all, unless you count all the russian forxa rips for mainly AC, but if you sucked into them its ya own fault.
It does not recognise that I subscribed originally, it just keeps thinking I am a new player.
But, oh, of course it recognises that I have NOT renewed my online play subscription, Oh no of course not.
So, the rf pages are confusing, I downloaded what i thought was the core engine only to find it was the demo, tred to download a few mods, only to find they did not make it across to the game. I ahve litereally no idea how I download the main game or the mods, I cannot seem to do it here without buying a game I already bought 3 years ago.
This title is so woefully badly put together the vast majority of people will simply do what I did, uninstall and go back to Rf1.
Sorry ISI, but spend more time making your game easier to download, operate and work, and less time trying to compete with titles that have far more resource and far better ways to alow people to try it.
You have yet to learn from the same mistakes you were making 4 years ago.
A damn shame, as the core engine and game are simply superb, you really need to get someone invovled who knows how to do the simple things thats all
Please use this link http://rfactor.net/web/2015/11/12/rfactor-2-now-available-on-steam/ and follow the process under "Already own rFactor 2?" bold title. Several friends of mine have successfully moved their copy to steam hassle-free.
You serious?
If you got to rFactor.net the downloads are almost smashing into your face from the right side of the screen. There are two options demo and lite. If you are not able to tell which one is the demo you can still click on More rFactor 2 Downloads..., which is right underneath, to find out.
The first two options of the list are again demo and light and it is clearly explained what is to expect.
You are right that downloading and installing rFactor 2 is more complicated then installing your average steam game but it is nowhere near rocket science.
If you're planing on migrating to steam please read the FAQ and all the info that is offered during the process.
If you have online subscription time left it will get deleted and the same is happening to your nonsteam version/account/license. You can under no circumstances revert that process. You cannot change back to non steam and you won't be able to get your remaining subscription time back. You cannot upgrade your offline version to a lifetime online version on steam. If you're planing on doing that you have to do it before migrating. This option will never come to steam and it will soon be canceled for non steam either.
Now I am using PC's and the various ways of downloading games, but this is somewhat crazy and cant be helping their sales.
Now I have the Steam key I cannot use a direct version from rf.net
So which damn version do I download here? There are only pay versions or the demo?
Surely this could be easier?
pro tip: Add a non steam game and browse the steam store are not the options you wanna click on.
