Setup Help and Control Problems
Hi, I recently bought rFactor 2 to use with my G27, but despite using the G27 preset and setting it up using the control wizard, I'm still having many problems with the game, making it essentially unplayable, namely:

1. When starting a session (In this case. a practice session) the car revs once and then will not move, however all the pedals, the shifter and the wheel are all calibrated as can be seen in the settings.

2. When the car won't start or move, I try pressing either the ignition or starter button but all it does is make the wheel go crazy, but the car doesn't start

3. On the occasion the car does decide to start (only a couple of times has this happened), I have no force feedback at all

For context I am driving a Caterham Academy car on the '66 Monte Carlo track

It worked correctly once, right after using the control wizard, then never again. Are these known problems? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks :)

I had the same issue with my Thrustmaster t300. Try loading the controller profile you have already created before entering the session. I had to do this before session or even once in the session. I have since changed to Fanatec and no issues like this now.

Cool, I'll try that next time I have the wheel set up, thanks :)

My T300 rs is exactly the same.
I'm sat in the pits like a dummy, unable to move.

I've tried it on advanced and normal mode and no difference, I just can't move.

The wheel works fine on AMS2, ACC and R3E, just start the game and drive.

This game is a big mess....

Ok, I just managed to finally drive out of the pit.

Turn auto pit lane to off.
For some reason this was stopping me driving out at the start of a session.

The bad news is there is absolutely zero force feedback.

I used to love driving my GTE cars around nords, just hot lapping.
The feel was phenomenal, now.....nothing.

This game is 1 step forwards and 2 steps back.

Instead of being able to load up and play, you need to load up and pray....

Right.
I've managed to get the ffb working by mapping a button on my wheel to "Reset FFB" so it's all working like it should.

To be fair, it's overly complicated though and required a trip to youtube to finally get it sorted....

For those having problems with rF2 controls & FFB check out Michi Hoyer's guide on youtube. I can now get out on track and drive.

There is another Caterham mod other than the Academy mod. I suggest you try it and see if it clears up any of your problems.

In the academy mod they use a sequential transmission which according to my research on the academy model was not available. The academy model was the low cost entry model racer.

If your using an H shifter they don't work well in sequential and can cause big problems. You should however be able to use the paddle shifters on your wheel.

I quit driving the Academy mode for two reasons. I don't like sequential shifting and I didn't think it was realistic to that car. The other Caterham mod uses an H shifter and to me is more realistic.

As a side note I have a Fanatec controller and it will due sequential, I just don't like sequential shifting.
