Nothing ever works from the profile directly, you always need to assign the inputs manually :)
Already have them connected to pc.
I found my issue. It's my DD1, starting the game with the DD1 off I can mapp the pedals. But I then get a new issue, I can't map my DD1.
Quiting the game, turning on my DD1 again and starting, my mapped pedals get deactivated, so then I can map my wheel, but not use the pedals again!!.. .
I can only have either the DD1 or my Ultimates mapped, not both at the same time.. .:(
You likely have the Steam Controller interface turned off or you may not have gotten this far, still worth checking. This switch was added around a year ago
Right click on the game in steam library and choose properties. "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" change “Use your Global Steam Input settings” to "Force Off". With any USB device that has its own driver, this should be set to "Force Off".
Some have reported this setting can change on its own when Steam client updates. It might try to turn its self on if you use big picture mode, have not tested that.
If you played before with your old setup, you may want to clear your config saves.
rfactor 2 / userdata / player / controller JSON. If you open that file , scroll down about 1/3 of the way, it would have lines of device name 1, 2, 3 ....... If your old wheel or pedals are listed, you might want to delete the controller JSON file and let the game build a new one.
If you are still having problems, you may need to edit the config file, something like you had to do in DR1 with the PID/VID numbers. Not sure if you can have more than one device ID in one file or have them in separate files. Some suggestions from Manwith Noname here

Explore some of the presets for clues of whats needed in the files.
I was thinking there was a link for a custom config for those pedals and this game, haven't found it yet. Maybe the official 397 forums or race department.
And now rF2 don't even recognise my pedals when the DD1 is off, and in the JSON file I have a list of my devices, but no wheel or pedals listed.. .
Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\Controller should be the location of the presets this game has to offer. If you deleted any files from this section, you might want to verify the game files.
Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player \Controller JSON should be your configuration save from the in game wheel setup.
....................
I only have an older version on the game files on this PC I’m posting from, so my info may not be 100%.
Check the presets for your DD1 wheel, I doubt if they had one to work with. You may need to create one or modify your config save if you have one.
..........................
This is what I have for my Fanatec V2 setup with pedals connected to USB.
Preset file named ‘ ClubSport Wheel.JSON ’ ,
ClubSport Wheel is the exact name (upper/lower case and spacing, this is important) as seen in Windows Control Panel\Devices and Printers for my wheel. I can’t remember if this was original or if I had modified or created this file.
Inside my config save file appears to be a copy of the preset file, as I scroll down there is these lines that identify
"Device Name 1":"Fanatec USB Pedals=#0eb71839",
"Device Name 2":"ClubSport Wheel=#0eb70001",
"Device Name 3":"",
"Device Name 4":"",
"Device Name 5":"",
"Device Name 6":"",
Again, Fanatec USB Pedals is the exact name as seen by Windows. 0eb71839 is the USB VID and PID (vendor ID, product ID). 0eb7 = Fanatec, 1839 = CSP-V2 pedals.
For the wheel, 0001 = V2.0 wheel base.
..................
If you have a config save (player \Controller JSON), open with wordpad or notepad and check your device names and ID numbers. Edit them to match hardware if needed.
I think some of the Fanatec rims have their own name & ID numbers too, check windows device page when they are connected. Keep that in mind if you have problems mapping buttons / switches on the rim.
If the game does not have a DD1 preset and will not detect the wheel, you could create a custom preset file. Duplicate an existing Fanatec file (clubsport?), change file name to match your wheel and device listings inside the file.
If there is a preset, you might want to change the pedals to match.
……………….
Finding the PID and VID of your USB devices. You will need to have your wheel powered up for your PC to see it in ‘devices’ or ‘device manager’ which ever location is easier for you to find.
Right click on the device for the properties page. Select ‘Hardware’ in the top of the box. Click on the HID or USB (it does not matter which one) for a new box and select “details” at the top. Under ‘Property’ is a dropdown option- select ‘ Hardware ID ’ (should be near the top of the list). In the value box below are the numbers/letters we need.
You should see something like ‘ USB/VID-----&PID------‘ . most games use only the first 4 digits of each.
This game uses the VID first, followed by the PID without any space in between (VID= vender id, PID=product id).
From what I've seen, any PID longer than 4 digits, the extras are for production revisions and are not used for USB ID's in games. Try with and without if you encounter that issue and having problems.
