Racing game without a trackmap? Why?
This game is perfect other than that. Why did they exclude this feature? This is the most basic feature of a racing game.

Honestly I've thought the same thing because it would be really useful when learning a new track for the first time if you keep getting confused about where you are on the track, but eventually you learn the track and a map would only tell you information as good as the bar at the bottom of the screen that shows your position.

I'm a casual sim racing fan and it's so annoying to race without it. I don't have too much time to memorize all the tracks that game offers. So it sucks. I'm too lazy to use simhub so i'm just playing ACC, F1, or GTR 2 more often than this perfect game. How hard could it be to include this option?

SimHub has good Track Map overlays.
krevett62 Mar 29, 2021 @ 11:04pm
Download simhub (search google) and search RaceDepartment for an overlay with trackmap ;) once you start using simhub you'll love it!
(or PM me for a custom overlay, I can't post here because it's based of the work of another!)

Edit: links
https://www.simhubdash.com/download-2/

A sample overlay: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/1-simhub-overlay-in-7-parts-with-alot-of-information.30670/

Simhub is free but you may want to send a little donation to the author to unlock fps (otherwise the overlay will be refreshed at 10-20 fps I think, you can choose the price of the licence from 5€, it works for more than rF2 and it's really worth it)

Because, if you play SimRacing, you must learn every inch of the track by heart.
And you have no place to look during the race, except in front of the track.
Trackmap was **** idea in SimRacing.

While this is true for someone who wants to perform/race online, he said he's a casual sim racing fan so I don't see the problem with having a track map...

By answering like that you turn potential new people who'd like to at least give a try to simracing away for the game. Having a track map is good for learning.
An advice I often give to friends who come play at home (and are not simracers) is to drive very slow for the first few turn as if it was their car to at least get the feel and push a bit more each lap.

If I don´t know the track , first thing I do is start a race with AI on low settings.
While driving round after round behind the AI ´s , I begin to memorize their brake and accelarating points.
This for me reaplaced the track map completly. But if someone wants to have a trackmap he should get one.

Monza, Spa, Silverstone in ACC, F1 and GTR will be the same route as rfactor2. the tracks directions wont change from one racing simulator to another.

For sure, but if he's just beginning, perhaps he doesn't already know the layout of these tracks.

A lot of casual games on STEAM.
Yes, better with GPS more easy, and comfortable racing.

Obviously you want to look good, but you're not helping ! Better to say honestly, what will actually help newbies.

Being harsh with newbie is not the way to help them, this is my personal opinion. You know I'm no professional sim racer just an amateur and I don't want to look good.

The guy asked how to put a trackmap I answered the question. You're just answering "hey noob you don't need a trackmap!" that's not very constructive. You could just have said "You can use simhub to put a trackmap but if you want to progress in simracing you'd better learn the track by yourself". Some people just like to play sims and learn, not compete at all price. Anyway I didn't want to offend ;)

After such conclusions, there is no point in continuing to talk to you.

I'm playing other sim games and i don't play them regularly, at least not enough to memorize all the tracks. I just know some parts of Spa, Nurnburgring, Monza etc. but i'm not fully know any track.

I can't fully see what's in front of me while driving virtually, it's not like real life. In real life you can adapt to any road condition easily, but while playing on a 22 inch monitor, you can't do that easily, if you didn't memorize the track. Maybe it's just me, idk.

ACC even lets you use radar. It is a online competitive sim racing game after all. So why not? Is it a hard task? It could be an option at least.

I used simhub two times btw; once on my phone and once on my PC. It's not the same thing. You have to complete a track once to set it up. I had some issues while i'm using it but i don't remember them right now. And i'm lazy, i just want to click to RF2 and play it. I don't want to configure, open, use any other software while playing... please:)

Personally, if I am driving a 1966 Brabham I don't want to spoil the illusion with HUDs and graphic overlays. But, to each his own :-)

Something I do with a new tracks is:
Set up a practice session with 10~20 AI, Realroad set to Green and 15x
Start the session and use time acceleration to finish the session.
Save realroad. Use a new you can associate with the car.
Exit practice
Set realroad to your new file and go drive.

You now have the rubber from the AI to lead you around :-)
