cant start game due to "insufficient memory"

I recently bought the game, everything downloaded and installed fine, but when i went to start the game from rFactor 2 Launcher, a message pops up to say " Insufficient Video Memory detected - 512 MB minimum required". I have checked my Video Memory and i have 512 MB, I have tried to start the game several times but the same error message appears each time. Has anyone got any suggestions?

You are RIGHT on the fine line of the amount of memory you need so it is possible the game is going over that amount by some because other things your computer is doing still requires SOME video memory I suspect. Even if the game DID start you wouldn't want to play it on such a low grade video card.

The message comes when the graphics card does not have enough RAM, or you have a PC / laptop with an onboard plus an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card. If 2 graphics cards are installed you should select the stronger one manually in the launcher under the video settings of rfactor2. If the new UI is used, when starting the game from Steam, first select the configuration tool.

Those system requirements need updating tbh. You need to have a graphics card with MORE THEN 2gb of ram for the latest laser scanned, hi-res tracks. The latest official nordschleife track requires 2gb of ram before loading any cars.

I see why they still have those minimum requirements.
DX9 is listed as minimum because you can still get the last DX9 build from the Beta list.
Minimum requirements is basically the lowest quality settings and content used shouldn't crash the computer.
Hence why they have the recommended requirements, but that doesn't mean turning everything to ultra will work

my game wont open at all but i get the same error. how can i change settings without the game opening?

Is your video card a stand alone video card and not integrated video? 512 video is not much, and I haven’t seen one with that little for many years, maybe it’s time for a new computer. Even if you could run the sim, at only 512 of video, it would be ugly as heck, I can’t imagine what the rest of your system is.

i have a 3060 ti. i have everything to run this and some but it just gives me the same error code. i have verified everything, i have re-downloaded the game and still same thing. my guess is it doesn't know what video card to use but i've had no issue with any other game. I noticed that the geforce hub doesn't recognize the game and i cant get it to recognize it, maybe it doesn't have support yet? anyway, I know this is an old thread but this is the closest i've gotten to an answer. i have played just about every other racing simulator and heard this game was really good just wanted to give it a try. thanks.

before open the game run the config then in video options select the rtx gpu

for ghub create a new profile choose the install folder and left ghub open before launch the game
