Rfactor 2 vs Assetto Corsa Driving sensation
Hello. I've been playing GTR 2 up until recently...I absolutely love that game.I bought AC a couple of days ago and realized how much more detail the force feedback has, not just that but all cars have different lock braking points in the pedal...it's absolutely incredible. Now the downside is that it doesn't have dynamic weather...honestly I'm just trying to justify a purchase of this game but at the same time... I only usually like Vanilla games, I saw the car list on this forum and there are not that many cars that are attracting me. So my question is, are there many mods for road cars and are they just as good as the vanilla game? I don't care that much about graphics, all I want is road cars, that sweet realism (That I've heared is the best it can get in this game) and that I can play online.

Also, how different is the FFB between these games when it comes to physics and adhesion/grip?

Also, driving with triple moniters, is it a fuss in this game? Do I have to download mods or does it work right of the box?

They're both great and I'd recommend owning both. RF2 feels fantastic and seems slightly more accurate than AC in terms of handling and physics, most noticable when losing grip and the FFB is better. When losing grip in RF2 it's closer to real life, you don't feel like all control is lost and it's quick and easy to regain grip.

The multiplayer isn't as active on RF2 and from my experience the average racer tends to be much faster. I find myself playing AC more because of the casual trackday servers

How about road cars? Mods for road cars, are they good? Real? Is there a lot of road car mods?

I have to admit though...that in the beginning, when I was comparing AC to GTR 2 I was like what the heck, this ain't even as realistic as GTR 2...but then I got to play on the Imola track which I have played a countless of times in GTR 2...and really, what I realized was that it wasn't even about the realism thing at all, I just didn't know the other tracks, brake point's etc, cause' after a couple of laps in Imola, I hit the right brake points each and every time and ...the driving feeling started getting similar. I could imagine that when loosing grip in rF2 that its similiar to GTR 2, I dont know.

I think I'll hold on for now and keep playing AC, that might change though, thanks for the input!

About dynamic weather, I dont remember AC having weather but rFactor 2 I already started practice with sun then cloudy then rain, in like some 15~20 min.

Physics and FFB superior at rFactor 2.

AC? Why not ACC? That has fully dynamic weather. FFB is also extremely good. It's a big step forward in pretty much every way from AC. Also...try the Rf2 demo.

ACC has all those GT cars which I personally have had enough of from playing GTR 2. I want a game that has road/ street cars but a realistic sim and at the moment AC is the best game providing it to me. To bad there is no rain or weather dynamics, I'm kind of a vanilla type of guy.

Thats a good idea, I'm going to try it!

Im gunna get slated for this but I gave up on AC ages ago. It developed an issue:
Map controls all fine. Enter a session all is good. (Well as good as AC is)
Session changes from practice to race and my controls will re randomly re-mapped to any controller at random.. So accelerate could suddenly by Joystick left and steering the brake pedal.
My bug fix suggested from Kunos Simulizoni .... Unplug everything except for your wheel.
My reply was.... Not acceptable ... Fix your software.
No response.... but the issue is still present.

RF2 is great...
I also like project cars 2
That said Ive moved away from driving and flight sims are scratching my itch more.

I was the biggest fan of GTR2, but that was 5 years ago. AC was fun...for awhile. RF2 has the absolute best tire physics and FFB among racing sims. You need to evolve.

Yeah me too I absolutely, still love GTR 2, I still think that thats my favourite sim so far...the things you got in that game was amazing...

Well I want road cars and as far as I can see...there are not many unless they're modded...how many road car mods are there in Rfactor? How many servers have GT races and respective Formula races? And road car races? I am not interested in driving Formulas nor that much in driving GT cars.

AC and rFactor 2 both have good physics and FFB, but rFactor 2 has more detail and feels more natural than AC. The FFB in AC seems more enhanced in a digital way and mostly all cars have the same feel to them. On the other hand in rFactor 2 the cars feel very different from each other and how they behave on the road. Tracks also contribute to the feeling, most tracks in AC are completely flat but in rF2 they have more bumps, rough or irregular surfaces so it adds to the feel. Also rFactor 2 has real rubber and tyre deformation which AC is laking but is simulated digitally. AC Physics would be 6/10 and FFB 7/10 and rFactor 2 Physics 9/10 and FFB 9/10.

Triple screen works out of the box (choose MultiView during launch menu settings). Good triple screen settings in the sim while on track you can bring it up and correct/rotate/resize/move etc all individual monitors.

If road cars is your biggest desire then AC is the best choice between the sims you mentioned. If you also want dynamic weather then PC2 may be a better choice. I don't know about multiplayer because I usually race offline in long races.

With the SOL mod you can get weatherFX for AC. It's free but it will cost you in terms of FPS.

That’s a fair assessment. I agree.

I tried the rFactor 2 demo but it didn't appeal to me. The menu music was just bad quality and the graphics were outdated but on the other hand I guess that the original game is much more polished than the demo. It is probable that I'll buy it later on when I get bored of AC.
Dani Mcfly Dec 9, 2019 @ 7:04am
Yeah, the Menu is outdated, there is a new UI coming soon which will make it look more 2019 than early 2000s hehehe. AC has great content, lots of car and track mods to mess around. I would still recomend getting rF2 later on if you want to experience raw driving feel, also, if racing against AI is your thing you can do multiclass races against 60+ AI which is a lot of fun. A plus point for rF2 is also that it has the best AI in any driving sim on par with maybe Raceroom.
