Question about uninstalling content
There's lots of tracks and cars that I don't want to use at the moment, so I went about uninstalling some of them.

A lot of stuff, I just delete the appropriate folder in either "vehicles" or "locations" foders that are themselves within the "installed". Then when I clicked refresh in the rf2 launcher, it removes them.

However, it seemed to start reinstalling some stuff when I opened the launcher again. I could not figure out where this stuff was coming from, so I deleted everything in the "cache" folder.

But now there are still some things that somehow resinstall themselves, tracks like matsusaka, indianapolis, palm beach. I delete the folders and they just come back. I can't figure out for the life in me where the rf2 launcher is resinstalling these from? help.

Thanks

You haven't unsubscribed from the tracks or cars in the steam workshop, so it will auto re install until you unsubscribe.

Thanks. So what is the best way to bring up everything that I'm subscribed to, through the steam interface, instead of having to search for it manually on steam?

Click on "Workshop" above, then click on browse, and then in the drop down menu "Subscribed Items"

Are mods uninstalled after pressing "unsubscribe"? Or do you have to unsubscribe AND delete the files manually?

I dunno man, I think it stays.

The problem is, I unsubbed something, now I resubbed it and it won't even download.

Honestly, I love the driving in this game, but this system is horrible. I prefer the assetto corsa way, you just paste a folder in and it's done. With this, you have the rfactor launcher, the workshop and manually adding/deleting things through file explorer sometimes, all conflicting with eachother, in some cases. It's a mess imo

unsubscribing just stops automatic updates downloading .You will still have the download ,it doesnt delete. rf2 used to have the paste system but once us3ed to workshop its brilliant

There's probably a way. You can download the file manually anyway, if you really need to

Click on "Library" at the top of the page, and select games in the drop down menu.
On the top left corner, RIGHT click with your mouse button on rFactor2. A drop down menu will appear, Click on "Properties"

A new popup window will appear labelled rFactor2 properties. Click on the tab called "LOCAL FILES" and then click on the button labelled "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE".

Steam will have a look to see what you deleted in the CACHE folder, and start downloading the missing files. Once complete, the workshop will start functioning correctly again.

This whole content management system is a mess, that workshop concept is not the way to manage the official base content.
This is not a pre alpha version and there should be a logical and clear way how to add and remove cars and tracks from withhin the game. Also there should be a very transparent way to select official content without to search in workshop for creators ...

rFactor2 was never designed for Steam, and if we had a choice to stay with the original stand alone version, most people would have. The original getmod system was a great idea from ISI, but the cost issues of hosting the tracks and cars, individuals not implementing the getmod system have brought rFactor2 to Steam which offers FREE hosting for the mods.

On the old system, we just downloaded the rfcmp files, straight from the rFactor2 website and put them into the packages folder.

As for the comment about having to search for the official content, why are you doing that for?
Just use the link for all the official ISI content.
