been really wanting to play this and finally installed to find out it doesnt even load. never in 23 years have i had an issue running a steam game

If the game doesn't start go to game's folder and find Gilbert.exe file. Right-click on it and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab and then Windows 95 or 98.
Now you can launch the game through Steam. Have fun!

For me it finally ran when I copied the folder out of Steam. I noticed that the game won't run if the folder name is too long, which is rather strange. First I copied it in a folder and called the game's own folder "Gilbert Goodmate steam" because I wanted it to separate from my own CD-installation. With this name the game didn't start. I changed it to "Gilbert Goodmate s" and it ran.
