Sculpting in 4.3
The brushes being moved to the bottom of viewport is really annoying, is there any way to move them back? Also why is the smooth brush sometimes laggy when I use it? In 4.2 I never had any lag while smoothing faces, even with a higher poly model. I noticed the same thing in the 4.3 beta. And what was the point of changing the icons for some of the brushes? Some weird stuff in this update.

Yeah, I found sculpting not very conveniet in the update. What is even more annoying - is that somehow, brushes cannot be connected to shortcuts. The shortcuts can be assigned, but when you press it - Blender just gives an error.

The problem actually is that you cannot assign numbers 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 as shortcuts

You absolutely can use 1 to 0 as key assignments in 4.3,
You can also assign them to brushes, and sculpting tools, and what's more, you can have different shortcuts for the same brushes on the T menu and in the Brush Menu, though that would be a bit silly.

I don't think you can directly set the interface to use the extremely cluttered old style of Sculpt too menu - this method seems much better, and more standard. It's main aim is to unify the toolbar between modes, which is a good thing.
If you don't like the 4.3 improvements - just stick with a version you do like.

Clear install or Load factory settings did the trick for me. Now I can assign brushes to numbers without an Error

BTW, you better get used to the brushes the way they are, because they have been designing this new system for a couple of years. They aren't about to dump it. And frankly, it makes more sense. I'm looking forward to Blender asset libraries becoming a lot more friendly too.

+1 on this. Why would anyone think this is a good idea? If you're going to make brushes assets at least keep them in the same place lol.

Read their info on this. The point is to EVENTUALLY make a more unified toolbar and asset collection system as I already stated. This is step one. If you don't like it, then it's a matter of a few mouse clicks to re-install V4.2 isn't it? So if you think it is a bad idea, and can't understand the reasoning / don't want to find out, then you can ignore it.

how to revert back to blender 4.2?

Click the Cog icon or Right click on list Library icon for Blender & select Properties, then Betas. Look for Beta you want in the drop-down list on the right. Select 4.2 Stable - LTS. When it starts, If you don't want to start from scratch make sure you let it use your old preferences.

NOTE: If you manually installed a second version of Blender (Non Steam), this can sometimes end up with shared configs. It is best to justy use a standalone (zipped) version if you want to do that.
