[SOLVED] Scaling to zero/aligning objects
I'm trying to align objects on a specified axis with scaling to zero in object mode, but it doesn't work like it used to. The objects disappear, I tried changing the pivot point, but it doesn't help.
Has something changed in the new version? What is the fastest way to align objects?

u can snap verts to a point

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjRE5j3yu2s

also nothing wrong with align objects with "S x 0" , "S y 0" or "S z 0" for me u sure u doing it the right way ?
That was a useful video, thank you.
Onto my case, I'm doing it that way and the object origins align how they should, but it also seems to affects the object dimensions. Once I've approved the scaling, they disappear, no vertices left in edit mode either.
There might be some options turned on I do not know off, that's why I'm asking if anyone knows what could cause this, it worked fine on 2.73. Now I got 2.74 off steam and it acts like this.

You should do all of your scaling in edit mode to avoid issues like this.

Edit; Yup, I clearly misunderstood the problem.
I don't have any idea what could be causing that issue, though.. I can't replicate it.

I think you didn't understand what the issue is.
First of all if you're in edit mode you can only manipulate one given object.
Secondly, it's not about scaling, but aligning the objects on a given axis and this is neat little trick you can do by scaling them to zero constrained to an axis which brings the objects to the same place on that axis.
My problem is that it's doing both, brings the origins to the same place, but also scales the models to zero, so no single vertex is left in the model. (sidenote: if I scale to 0 in edit mode it gives me a face as a result, but in object mode nothing is left, just the origin point)
Okay, so I found out what was the problem, 'Manipulate center points' was turned OFF, turned it on and it works like it should
Nice one also you can use alt and numpad plus to toggle it - in 2.9 it's toggled off by default, but it used to be on I think
This is so old, I didn't even remember I asked this question. :winter2019surprisedsnowman:

FYI it's different now:
