What is the different between Normal Blender and Steam Blender?
Just curious if it better to install Blender from Steam or normal (straight from original website) Blender. What date does Steam Blender is as well?

Any tips appreciated.

Thank you for your time reading this.

On steam you have forums, videos, news, guides, discussions, in one word: a community.

On the blender Site you also have a comunity, however your probably more likaly to browse steam over the blender sub sites. The big diference i see is automatic updates might happen, so you don't have to check and install a new batch (Assuming thats something you hate.)

The only difference I saw so far is:
- Normal Blender, when added manually to Steam Library, have problems with Steam Overlay ( if you open it, you can't close it without killing Blender's process in Task Manager)
- Steam Blender loads some dll's (in console) and, at least for now, blocks Steam Overlay from displaying at all

I'm not sure though why both versions use same settings from Appdata/Roaming

Steam Blender is just a touch better. It will automaticaly update, has a Steam community, and thats about it. It even remembered my "Recently Opened" files from when I had the regular Blender.

Steam version doesn't have GPU acceleration, so it might slowdown PC if the big scene is open.

The only difference is your friends see that you work in Blender. Plus a community.
