Why is the Steam version of Blender 32-bit?
- on a 64-bit Windows 7? Can't Steam handle a 32-bit thing for 32-bit users and a 64-bit thing for 64-bit users? (As far as I'm aware, the answer to that is "yes it can".)

Edit: Also, that is a serious question. Why?

Steam installed the x64 version of Blender for me, that is what my Winshit Task Manager told me just now.

Well, the "System info" in Blender on Steam says the platform is b'Windows:32bit' or such.

Machine flag for the "blender-app.exe" installed by Steam for me is set as AMD64 (and this is what is called x86-64 or x64 these days), Task Manager says it's 64-bit, and the osarch in Steam's launch configuration is set to 64-bit, too: https://steamdb.info/app/365670/config/

Does it mean the Steam version is 64-bit only and cannot be used on a 32-bit OS?

Sir, please use 64bit, it can use more than 4GB of ram, why would you want to stay at 32bit, please envolve for the future.

You also get depot 365672 in the subscription package which is marked as 32-bit, which will probably download on 32-bit Windows. However, since there is no appropriate launch configuration, you will probably need to launch it directly.
