Silly question, but you are making sure the add-on checkbox is actually enabled right?
Also, are you checking the console to see if there are errord?
PS You don't normally manually add files to the add-ons folder unless the Add-on instructions tell you to. Just "install from disc" & select the .zip or .py file
I tried to install add-on "Screencast Keys master"(I am not sure, if links are allowed here, so if you want to check, just search in google, it's first link from github). I tried to install it using blender, tried manual install, I removed checkbox "enabled only", I used blender versions 3.3, 3.2, 3.0, 2.9, 2.8.2. I checked console, it didn't show anything unusual. Blender showed me a message, that add-on was succesfully installed in folder path I need, however blender didn't see this add-on.
I spen about 3 hours of trying to solve this, unfortunately nothing worked
Here's what I did, using Blender 4.3.2 which is currently the latest one on Steam.
I downloaded the current add-on which is Version 4.1 from Github which is for Blender 4.2, and installed it in the normal way, ie :-
1: Open Preferences/Add-ons tab.
2: Select Install from disc in Top Right Dropdown Menu.
3: Navigate to & Click on Zip file in my downloads folder to load & install it.
4: Scroll down the list of addons to Screencast Keys entry, noting that it has an enabled checkmark & expand it to make sure nothing needs attention.
5: Exit Preferences.
6: Enable Sidebar with N, & select the Screencast keys tab.
7: Enable the Screencast Keys display checkbox. Keys and buttons pressed show up in bottom left of the screen. All done.
That is all you need to do. Do not manually unzip the file, do not put it anywhere in the Blender folder, and make sure you download the correct version.
It sounds like you may also be having problems with so many different versions of Blender. You have to be careful there.
