Extrude complex shape inward?
Basically, I need to extrude a rather complex model, that is essentially cut in half, so that the outer topology is pretty much inverted inward exactly from where the original half is cut and it needs to extrude proportionally. How can you accomplish that?

hmm you could try to use the solidify modifier and use the even thickness option... you could also separate the 2 geometries by using the material offset of the rim

depending on shape and complexity extruding inwards along normals might do the trick too

no the solidify modifier doesn't work, it starts solidifying from the outer faces and makes a total mess. I need pretty much the entire model flipped inwards so that the inner shape has the exact topology, but it's just inverted. I can't use mirror because it needs to follow the normals vectors.

Normal extruding also doesn't invert the shape and the new extrudes topology starts moving away, i need it to move proportionally.

And extrude along normals doesn't work, it also makes a complete mess of the object

would be nice to have a screenshot, i've read it like 5 times and still doesnt get what you want to extrude from
