Had to revert back to 4.1 as I only use EEVEE
This new EEVEE update really yucked up a lot of my features I used in prior versions. This is the only time I ever reverted back a version as this one got rid of a lot of features that bettered my results in the past versions that 4.2 just straight up gets rid of such as bloom and ambient collisions. Plus a lot of my addons broke in 4.2 as well which has never happened in any prior updates.

I thought I was the only one, I also reverted back and this is also my first time reverted back. It's honestly really disappointing, maybe I just don't know what I'm doing with the new settings, but metal with a slightly low roughness, not all the way 0, looks weird and foggy compared to ray tracing being off. they should make this version of the renderer something else, not EEVEE.

Honestly they really should've added Eevee Legacy as an option like they did with one of the 4.1 or 4.2 beta or alpha builds.

I reverted back to 4.1 as well. On top of breaking the add-ons and many of my shaders, the shaders take forever to load now and the program freezes doing that. Emissions were insane and transparency wouldn't work anymore on my glass materials.

well, I had to go to 4.1 as 4.2 keeps crashing. Will make a report later, but...

if I try to open the files with my custom assets I made: crash. Open old files: crash. Open shaders tab in new file: crash

i reverted back and i only use cycles. it's completely broken.

i am going to miss being able to drag and drop all the model files like fbx etc into blender instead of importing manually, but 4.2 imo just changed things that didn't need to be changed, and made it hard to do things that usually took me 2 seconds in 4.1

EEVEE 4.2 is a brand new engine, so things have changed and I think for the better. But no matter what machine I use, switching to render mode always acts super slow the first time.

Ambient Occlusion is now the Raytracing option - check it on under the properties where AO used to be. The results look better than what AO used to be.

Bloom went into the compositor where it was for cycles all along. Turn on nodes and add the 'Glare' node with bloom as an option in the pull-down.
