Exporting .mdl files?
I'm trying to create a mod for a source engine game but even with the source.io plugin it doesnt show an export option. only importing

Source IO isn't meant to export files. You have to use the Blender Source Tools addon[steamreview.org] to produce either SMD or DMX files that you can compile into game-ready models later on.

Yes but I have that installed tho. And I remember source io used to be able to export mdl. Even then the and export doesn’t work because it thinks the scene isn’t set up right

look up .mdl in the forum's search bar, pretty sure someone asks the same question atleast once a week.

.mdl is a archive manager kind of like a .zip file

.smd contains the mesh data

i've used sourceops addon in the past to put a custom asset into cs:go before
