Blender
new to blender I have some questions about rigging, animating, and adding raytracing to a shadow model
so im using a shadow the hedghehog model but i want to not just give him a rig and animations I want to make his quills flow and add raytracing to his model as well as the scenese hes in whats the best way to do this. i also want this info for gerald, maria, and the space colony ark

whats the actual question?
the question is im going to add raytracing to the look of the model how do i go about doing this. similarly how do you add animations to shadow (like running grinning smirking anger etc) how do i make his quills flow.

cant clearly understand your idea without any reference
when you say "shadow" you actually referring to the shadow or the character name?
You don't just add raytracing to a model. That's an engine thing. Cycles is actually a branched path tracer. So fi you render sommething with cycles you get all the fancy 'raytracing' stuff in terms of physical accuracy.

But if you were to import a model into a game the engine, the engine itself has to have raytracing as a feature on that end.

this isnt for a game its for a fan animation/mini movie i wanted to incorporate raytracing to make it look as good as possible but your saying it already has it?

You seems a bit confused, but yes. I suggest to look at how render engines work and how they're implemented into Blender, especially Cycles
Raytracing, as the name implies, is when individual rays (of light) are traced in the scene, usually meaning they are bouncing off of surfaces, making it all look more realistic. Has nothing to do with the model. And yes, if you stay in Blender and use Cycles, you already have raytracing.

The way you talk about it makes me think you are actually looking for something else, though, maybe some kind of specific effect or something? Check your terminology.

i think he means raytracing as those "RTX ON" memes where they make characters overly detailed: (https://youtu.be/Z7Rj9mHj79E)

I think my goal is to get that path traced cgi look from the sonic cutscenes on the look of my model that’s why I meant ray tracing I don’t think cycles does enough to quite get my look

Not exactly I’m looking to add that semi realistic looking cgi style lighting, shadows, and shading they do in the cutscenes from the game shadow the hedgehog but a modern hq version of it. I don’t think cycles quite does this I’m pretty sure there is a specific effect I need to do that’s why I discussed raytracing/pathtracing

cycles literally does that. You just need to know how to light properly.

You do understand what I’m referring to right those cutscenes were path traced does cycles do that I’ve tested it out on simpler models and it doesn’t look like it does that also I did some googling and it seems there is supposed to be an rat specific add on you do there are tutorials about it and that’s what I’m looking for

You can use Cycles for many different looks using the right shaders, but Eevee might be what you're looking for.

Is eevee better than cycles?

Because you need to make the lights look like that. You can't expect the lighting to look good if you don't know how to properly light a scene.
