To expand on that, Blender is open source, which means anyone can access the code and develop whatever they want to see in Blender.
In fact, I think that is how the current physics system made it into Blender. It started out as a alternative build that someone in the community was making, and it was so good it eventually made it into the main/official version of Blender. Something like that.
So basically, nobody in the Blender development community must be interested enough to work on what you're asking for. Or there are just other things that take priority. So if nobody else is interested in what you're asking for, you're more than free to go develop it yourself. And maybe one day it would be incorporated into the main branch as well.
