Face lighter than others
Hey, today i was messing around with stuff in blender, when i saw that i had a face lighter than the rest of the mesh ( It's a pistol grip ), it's also the only faces with edges drawn in wireframe mode :

If anyone has any idea what this is, i'd love to learn how to fix it

Thank you

Check your normals, Mesh colour changes like that usually indicate that you have conflicting inward and outward facing mesh. Darker usually means the normals are facing inward and lighter outward. You can do a quick test in object mode by turning backface culling on, If mesh disappears and is replaced with yellow wire, you've found your problem. You're looking at a backface.

Another thing it could be is that you have faces inside the pistol grip... like this

Hi, thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately after recalcutating the normals, the mesh doesn't change, and there are no interior faces either.

Problem persists

Try selecting the whole mesh (A key) and then removing doubles. That is under the menu that shows up when you hit the W key.

If the weapon has sliding parts, I wouldn't select the whole model, only the areas where the problem exists. If you remove doubles around the sliding parts, you run the risk of welding the weapon together, breaking the slide.

Right, didn't consider the whole picture there.

Hi, already tried removing the doubles, whether it be on the whole mesh or only concerned faces, it still doesn't fix it.

Thanks for the suggestion though

In object mode select the object data property panel, uncheck Auto smooth if it is turned on, does that help?

Nope, not turned on :/

Hit n and then, on the right side bar that pops up, under "mesh display", turn on the normals on the faces (you have to be in edit mode for this). This should give you a bunch of blue lines indicating those normals. Post your picture again, with those turned on so we can see them.

Alternatively just post the .blend file.

Hello, these are the images you requested : https://imgur.com/a/Uh7T3Lj

I though I saw reversed normals in the left side wire, but the solid says Nope. As you are in the early development stage, I wouldn't worry too much about the clay. If you select a RedClay MatCap, does it color correctly?

With coloring the face still is way lighter than the other faces : https://imgur.com/a/QWR2I1b

By this point you probably could have simply rebuilt the whole thing twice over. :P
Did you try deleting those faces and recreating them?
The normals look fine and there are no interior faces, so I have no idea what causes this. I give up unless you post the .blend file.

I'm in agreement with The Renderer here. I have no idea why it's doing this.

Go into Face Select mode, select the faces (it's happening in the trigger guard too) delete faces only.
Switch to edge select mode and select the 4 edges and press F to add a face where you need to replace the faces. Check again.

Other than that, upload your .blend to a dropdox, googledrive or onedrive and share it, provide a link to it here so we can download it and look at it.
