Good Tutorial/Tips for sculpting ?
Hello everyone :lunar2019piginablanket:

Does someone know any good tutorials where I can learn sculpting, or maybe some tips for it? I was always too scared to touch it, as it's usually described as hard and the pinnacle of modelling but recently I've been wanting to try it. I planned on making a canine for my first sculpt but I don't know where to start really.

There is alot of Sculpting tutorials around. This one looks competent enough for a beginner :)

Thank you, I'll check that out! :winter2019happyyul:
This one by CGBoost is pretty much super current, it's using Blender 2.93. So any 2.8x tutorial will be fine, but there have been quite some useful sculpt tool additions since 2.8x.
Cloth Brush and such.

I've heard about those improvements too, yet only very vaguely. I'll take a look at that video aswell. Thank you again!

Any time I see someone asking for basics or fundamental type lessons in Blender, I always recommend Grant Abbitt. He is AMAZING. He's also in love with sculpting it seems, so he's got a lot on that. Check him out on YouTube.

Should I still have any open questions despite the other suggested videos, I'll be sure to take a look. Thank you!

Learn to draw.
As far as organic 3d characters/creatures go, sculpting is literally just drawing, but in 3d.
Same principles apply, like knowing anatomy, working from big to small and breaking up complex forms into simple shapes, except that instead of circles and rectangles you're using spheres and cylinders. Drawing is faster to iterate and easier because you're not constrained by 3d technicalities.
Knowing what button to press to do "auto-retopo" or where the "cloth brush" is without actually knowing what cloth folds look like won't do you any good in terms of actually creating stuff, trying to run before you learn to walk and all that. All this stuff can be learned in an evening, it's the equivalent of knowing what store you can buy pencils from.

I did try to draw in RL a few times, but after never liking my results, I discovered that it really wasn't for me so I learned Blender and did this 3D stuff. I hope I won't run into the same issues with 3D drawing. If I find the time today then I'll try to follow one of these tutorials and just see where that goes. Thanks!

I suggest you first watch video about all brush (Grant Abbit is best) And try all brushes Yourself. After You Familiar With All Brush Take A Very Simple Model And Try To Sclupt. Also Sculpting with a mouse Is Quite Difficult Or Takes Extra Time. If You Have a Graphic Tablets That's Help you a lot. I'm also beginner on sculpting so I tried this method!!

I often hear about graphic tablets too but I don't have the money and I'd first like to see if I have a hand for sculpting in general ^^

Okay Don't worry you can sculpt with mouse. ( also I don't have any graphic tablet same issue😅 ) but I recommend to play with all the brushes and their strength. And try a simple model.
