how to make road markings
Hi, I'm new to blender and I'm trying to model visualization of street from road design with road markings. Is there an easy way to do it? Should I make every marking as separate plane object or should I use road UV's to texture the markings? There's a lot of them there and it's a long street with big intersections lol.

Here's an intersection example:

If you are feeling like hey lets do this with nodes, you could make your own procedural shader like in this tutorial.

Alternatively you could also download textures of roads with markings and then arrange them as you see fit eventually paste in markings as you need em.

Ah thats pretty complex...I'd prolly start with a satelitte image of the intersection and then recreate what i see.

Thanks!
I could think of another way to do this...If you can get a reference sheet with the the markings you want to use, you could use this as a texture mask for porjection painting onto a 2nd layer over the base asphalt texture (which is basicly just noise) and then overlay this projection painted markings mixing the diffuse with a transparent shader.
Basicly you model the street, Project from top view unwrap it and projection paint the markings on top of the tarmac, eventually rotating and moving your stencil around..if that makes sense.
