Report a translation problem
Select select the second object then select the shapekey on the other object you want to be controlled by this driver, Right click on that shapekey's VALUE field and select paste driver. The control will turn purple.
Now you can use the shapekey from that first object to work both shapekeys.

You should be able to paste the driver across multiple object shapekeys so that one key will drive them all.
If you need to make adjustments to the amount of influence the driver is applying to the other shapekeys, then you would do that through the driver editor for the shape you need to make the adjustment. (which is a totally different thing to what you're asking here)
