cube hole in the subdivision modifier.
Hey guys I got this problem, when I want to make an hole in the object that's using subidivion modifier instead of square hole it makes an circle hole (and not even a good one) so I am asking how can I make a square hole without making it too much sharped or circled, from this - https://imgur.com/a/f63p9Nv to this https://imgur.com/a/5wsZqHO

increase the crease on those edges, press N in edit mode and see transformations,

Creases won't help unless you actually fill that hole with something (a little indentation going inside).

You make it "square"-ish like you make anything square when using subdiv modifiers: Edge loops.

I'm more a hard surface modeler and I don't use SubSurface SubDivide modifiers when I really don't have to because you have to add a lot of extra geometry to square things out or sharpen edges. But I think this is more or less what The Renderer is saying.

Select the edges where you've deleted the face for the trigger opening and extrude it up into the stock. Selecting the internal box, you can scale it to the size you need. Once you have that, you would align or adjust the edge loops and add more to loops to get rid of artifacting and to tighten up the bevel of the fold into the stock.

It would look something like this

Try to use a boolean and put the bool cut after the sub-d modifier.

Using a Bool on a Sub-D modifier, you're still going to have to apply that bool modifier then tighten up the depression with edge loops. However, (imho) it will take more effort to do that because of the NGons the bool is going to make in the Sub-D'd object when it makes its cut.

So just use creases instead? Or just throw a weighted normal modifier on there and see if that cleans up the shading from the bool. The ngons don't really matter if they aren't part of the curvature.
