Export model to 3D pdf
Is there a way in Blender to export your model to a 3D pdf file? So that the model can be opened and rotated in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Other software (for 3D photogrammetry) lets me export the model directly as a pdf file. But I would like to import the model made in that software (and exported as an .obj file) into blender, then edit the model (by adding several objects), and then export it as a 3D pdf. I tried looking online but most places do not really answer this question.

You might get it to work somehow using 3rd party programs and doing a whole bunch of conversions with those from a Blender compatible format to a 3D pdf, but the short answer is no.

It actually worked back then using some tools in between like meshlab...it is so long ago that I did that, but I got it to work like 5 years ago or so. I think it was VRML export and then something.

Ah ok thanks, than I will try to look for another way to do it.
On a side note: There are sites like sketchfab that allow to showcase 3d models via a link online.
But with some digging and converting it should still be possible to make 3D Pdf happen using an older version of blender, which are still available from the website.

Yeah I use sketchfab as well, but I share my models as a pdf with people who want a copy of my model but who do not have any type of 3D software.

And thanks for the tip, I will try looking at some older versions of Blender!
I think the main issue is having a PDF authoring tool that allows import of 3d models.
Once you know the supported formats of your pdf tool, it will be much easier to figure which formats you can use to get from blender to there.

Yeah, the issue isn't Blender (well, unless you see the non-existence of a direct 3D pdf export as issue), it's that there don't seem to be any free 3D pdf generation tools out there. At least I haven't found any so far. If you find one (or buy one), it shouldn't be too diffcult to get the model into whatever format it wants.

A free 3D pdf authoring tool would be great, I cannot find any either. Hopefully they will appear in the future. For now I think I will try to re-import the edited file back into my photogrammetry software (Metashape is paid software) to export it as a pdf from there.
