how to get valve model's eyes texture and pose them in blender?

well i have another problem that im using gman's model and i want to put eyes in him but there are 2 different textures for the eyes that is the eyeball and the pupil, and when i put the pupil in the eye's location it doesn't remove the black part of the texture so everything except the pupil on the eye stays black. is there a way to fix that or do i have to edit it to a png and make it transparent?

You may have to set up your eyeball_L/_R nodes to use an overlay texture for the pupils (a mixShader or a mixRGB node) not really sure. But the vectors should still work for the materials.

i tried doing this tutorial:

but when i make the black background of the pupil transparent , the eyeballs goes transparent and i can see the inside of gman's head

and i also noted a strange thing that in the uv editor the black background of the pupil texture is transparent. but not in the viewport

Black is considered transparent... So there may be other settings you have to set in the Materials panel for them to display properly. I dislike nodes and much prefer the old way of adding textures, but this is now Blender and we have to adapt.

where did you get this model from, these are crappy textures and it looks like the model has been reposed and unwrapped?

i think i got it from the source filmmaker model since i didn't need to get it from the vpk. but i guess it doesn't make any difference.

about moving the eyes and putting the pupil and eyeball texture together i managed to do that correctly but the eyes are still kind of weird

Yes they are because the UV maps are junk. What are you using the model for if it's already a SFM model?

because for me the sfm graph editing is kind of messed up

Why not switch to a different version of the Gman. Someone has uploaded the HL-Alyx version to the workshop. Much nicer model.
