Rendered images are always 1920x1080?
Hi I tried rendering an image with Cycles and I set the output to be 4096 x 2160 once and then 2560 x 1440 and both times the image I got was 1920x1080. What am I doing wrong?

Could you please instead try going to the top left render menu (next to file and edit) and select "render image" in there?

Is the resolution 100%? 4096x2160 at 50% will render as 2048x1080 etc

Yes the % under the resolution settings is 100. Just so we're clear it's supposed to render an image that when I click save as and go into details it's the resolution that I put into the output settings right?

Edit: maybe I need to change the aspect?

Rendering from Eevee, I set my render size to 4096x2160, Aspect 1.00 for both X and Y, take the render, when I save the image, I have "save as render" and "copy" checked on in the options (gear top right of the save window). Result was a 4096x2096 png file.

I thought maybe there was a image size override in the save image function, but don't see one

Are you rendering in Eevee or Cycles?

Cycles. I will try one with Eevee now. I have Save as render and copy as well. 0% compression and 16 thingy color and when I right click and details it says 1920x1080. I don't understand this. Does it have to do with my pc res being 1080p? Do I need to change something else because of that?

Eevee also stuck on 1080p...

Edit: set the aspect to 2 and still 1080p

Are you actually rendering or just taking a screenshot or something? Yes, possibly stupid question, but...

Well I click on the render frame button after going in to the render tab and then I click on Image on top left and save as. I had "burst render" addon active but i turned it off to see if maybe that was the problem, it wasn't. I still can't go higher than 1080p.

Just to make sure, you are going to the render menu up top and select "render image" (or just press F12)?
Edit: I'm asking because I don't know what the "render tab" is or where the "render frame button" is.

Ah ok no I'm not using blender keybinds (still) but I go in the top where it says Modeling, Sculpting etc and I click on Rendering. And then I look to the right side and there's a Render Frame button.

I set the resolution over at Output Properties under the currently open right side tab thingy, forgot the name of.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Dude! You're the boss! I got one in the resolution I set. I need to figure out which addon adds that menu that boot it. Thanks!

Glad it works. Maybe that button uses different settings for some reason.
Space Fart Jun 10, 2020 @ 10:55am
There's only one place where I can set the output settings tho and it opens the tab right above it as on the screenshot. I dunno. I couldn't figure out which add on adds that one. Maybe someone comes across this and answers that question, who knows.

That render screen uses the Render Result (or the image you happen to open.) I wonder if you might have taken the render at 1920x1080 prior to setting the resolution to what you wanted? That would load the Resolution the render was taken (which would have been the 1920x1080.)

If you click the Image tab in the Transform bar, the you will see what the resolution that render result used.

This is my process...

Render, Click the + on the menu bar, you may find that scene preset buried off screen.

Oooh well I was saving the thing that pops up. I was always changing it to a higher res but it kept reverting back to 1080p after a render. I have no idea anymore. I'll try again later/tomorrow but either way thanks for the help.
