My seams don't mark

How come his seams are showing up red? After I click Mark Seam nothing shows up (go to 3:30 and watch till about 3:38).

I have no idea how that happens ,make sure you have a proper edges.

are you sure that your edges are not marked by other commands,like make sharp or something like that.

Normally it should works fine with just marking seam.after that the seams that your marked would appear red.

I doubt anything else should be marking the edges. All that had been done in blender to that other than trying to mark the seams was I clicked on smooth - maybe that could affect it though? Before blender it was a sculptris model and then went through instant meshes and then into blender. I'll try it without smoothing first and see if it works. Thanks

It's an overlay effect that can be turned on or off in the 3d Viewer Tools bar (N). Like this...
