Character model dark after applying texture map
I currently just imported Junkrat from the workshop to Blender. I added the diffuse map to the skin material. It looks perfectly fine in texture and material mode, but when I set it to rendered the character is much darker. I already recaculated the normals and I'm only using a HDRI.

I m not familiar with source filmmaker files at all. However jet-black returns are often related to either raytracing samples (viewport) or material mishaps.
Point being ..all these 3d Software things don't communicate perfectly with each other and especially material is mainly a 'Renderer' based affair. The source filmmaker export settings simply wont work right out of the box for another 3D application.

YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOK INTO IT IN DETAIL ;D

Edit: the world settings seem okay from what i can see on the screenshot.
The material slot for the skin and the path tracing samples tab should be the culprit.

Increase the brightness of your HDRI by setting the "strength" to a higher number. And/or use a brighter HDRI.

Err, yeah the model is still really dark.

Well, if the texture and material modes are fine and only the render is dark, lack of light is the most obvious culprit. Not sure what else it could be. I assume you don't have any other objects in the scene which are possibly blocking the light?

Can you upload a couple of screenshots to show the problem so we can see what exactly "really dark" means?
Edit: Also, did it change at all when you brightened the HDRI?

Does the model have a baked lightmap? I've heard that there's a few cases where that can affect how bright your character appears.

Well the skin material is pretty much jet black in rendered viewport.
There is something off with either your material settings OR your viewport rendering settings.
iT s maybe an amalgamation of both. Is there any subsurface or transparency going on in the material and if so..what are the settings for viewport rendering?

It is just the default settings. I've imported SFM models before into Blender and they have never done this. And with the material settings it is just a Principled Shader with a image texture.

Yeah, just figured it out. UV maps "use Alpha" was turned on. Thanks anyway!
Glad it worked out :)
