I don't know if that is for Blender Render or Blender Cycles, or if the settings are even different between the two modes. And you haven't mentioned what mode you are using either. My point is that if you are in a different mode in Blender then they are using in that link, the options you might need to tweak to have materials show transparency in the viewport could be slightly different.
That isn't my aim.

The bug affects the viewport, no matter which rendering engine you use (Blender Render, BGE or Cycles). (The post is from Cycles but I found other post with Internal and BGE)
Anyway, does it work when rendering? Well, turn off the glass and don't give it more importance. Something strange has happened to me in the viewport some time but in the final render it works so I deactivate it from the Viewport and I keep working, because otherwise, I lose a lot of time looking for the problem.
Neither. A game engine will have its own way to render stuff. There is no reason to expect it will have the same bug/issue that Blender seems to have here. No need to worry.
