My textures on my model are pink

I'm trying to work on a model and after I started working on it in Unity I went back to blender to work on some bones and used the .blend file I had saved for the model. The models textures are now all pink. I don't know how to get the textures back. For reference I use the CATS Blender plug in (0.61) and the mmd tools. I'm new to using blender and could use the help, though you might have to be super basic and ELI5 thanks for your help and patience.

are the textures pink in Unity or in Blender ? Pink means they are missing u need to kow were u saved them and relink them.

I think material is missing on unity. I only export fbx from blender to unity, works well.

They are missing in blender and how would I relink the files. I know where they are just dont know how they became unlinked

I understand that this post is old, but since I came across it I wished to clarify this issue for others. The textures are not directly saved in the blend file and must be bonded from the toolbar menu. Go to File > External Data > then check the automatically pack into .blend and it will now be added. I know that this is the same with the newest version of blender all the way back to 2.83 but am unsure about anything older than this.

Now that we know how to add the images into the blend file we have to find how to remove them. Simply navigate to your Outliner and select the display mode drop-down button that is directly next to the drop-down for the outliner. now select the blend file and select the drop-down labeled images, any image that is packed in this file can be viewed here. Now just select the image and right-click > remove and that's it (I only used 2.83+ so options may vary in 2.9 and below).
