Blender Mantaflow liquid is so good, anyone else tried it?
Anyone tried the mantaflow branch? i have been messing around and created the following simulation:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1341616872

Fluid res: 128
Animation res: 1280, 720, with only 128 samples.

it has float(foam), bubbles and drop particles.

Scale of the scene:
Everything was created inside the default blender Cube which i believe is 2 blender units big.

i didnt use denoise as i dont think it works well with fluids unless you are rendering with a high sample rate.

Edit: added a new simulation that i just did.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1344074607

Rendered at 1920 * 1080px with 300 samples

Edit: forgot to add the official link for blender mantaflow branch https://github.com/sebbas/BlenderMantaflow/releases

Please note this is still in development and will eventually be in 2.8

No change. That’s a setting I’ve been looking for for other projects, but it just says the HDRi isn’t causing the liquid to look bad.
Any chance you could remove the HDRi/addon and send the project file? I want to just compare everything and see what’s done different (also so I can get it rendering on my other computer)

all i have done is remove the HDRi

let me know how you get on.

So it turns out my project must have been bad, bugged, or broken because of adding the pbr addon after creating the project. I created a clean project and with a water resolution of 32 (same for samples) and it looks perfect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

With smooth shading it looked pretty good. I'm throwing together a full scene for a full resolution test.

Right now, most Ryzen processors are on sale. You can get a 1700X (What I have in my rendering workstation) for $289 or a 1600X for $200 (My favorite being the 1800X [$330], which along with the 1700X has 8 cores and 16 threads).

I just thought I should let you know. If you're thinking about upgrading, now is a perfect time

I use Newegg. The prices are the same, but they don't charge sales tax and I've never had a problem using them. I build every computer of mine with parts ordered from them.
