Blender
Blender fails to launch
I don't know how to troubleshoot this. When I try to launch Blender, a black window briefly opens but immediately closes. I haven't had time to use Blender or my xp-pen artist 22e display/tablet for a while so I suspect it may be the last Windows 10 update that messed it all up. I reinstalled my display driver (Geforce GTX 1060) but that didn't help.

I really hate windows right now. Any help is appreciated.

When you launch Blender, does the Blender Icon remain in your Taskbar after it appears to crash? If yes, Blender is merely minimized (some steam programs do this). Find the Process in the Task Manager, right click it and select Maximize., then rescale the screen as required.

Go to https://www.blender.org/download/, click macOS, Linux, and other versions. Then download the 64 bit .zip. Extract it to your desktop, and double click blender .exe

Re validate the local files cache. You files may be corrupted. Also if you run Discord, shut down Discord. It interferes with some Steam processes.

Well, I'd begin by looking at what Blender reports.
With Windows Explorer navigate to its folder and in the top bar that shows you the absolute path erase everything and type "cmd".

Now type: blender.exe and wait until it crashes. If it generates a log, paste it here or in Blender Support forums.

You can try what this page says too: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/crash.html

Lastly, if you don't feel like continuing using Windows, evaluate if you can move to GNU/Linux.
I'm running Fedora at the moment and my copy of Blender (from their website) is working fine.

Using cmd like you suggest it says: "Error: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" but no log is generated that I see. I also could not find any crash logs where your link says to find them or even a temp folder but that may be because I reinstalled.

I have been thinking about switching to linux but hesitate because the number of games that work seems small and I also don't know of any pen displays that work.

For games without a port to GNU/Linux check Wine Database. Maybe they run fine.
For pen displays get the model and check around. Someone may have test already if it works.

Back to Blender you can start checking here:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Blender+Error%3A+EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Oldest report is from 2015. Check some of those links. Maybe someone found a solution.

If nothing else works, report it. Good luck.
