How do I center the pivot point?
It's.... way out there. https://i.imgur.com/qO61PkU.png

Object > Set Origin > Origin to center of mass.

In object mode, with the object selected. That menu is top left in the 3d viewport in your screenshot.

Not Set Origin, I don't think you want to move your objects origin point.... Shift+S then Cursor to Origin - Change the pivot point to 3D Cursor.

I'd say moving the origin is not a bad idea as it is so far offset from the geometry...unless that offset is there intentional.

Oh, yeah you are right, I hadn't condsidered changing the pivot point, this works too, and may be more desirable.

However, this ^ is why I went straight to moving the origin point. My first thought was that it looked out of place and wasn't there intentionally.

@weirdmicrocolony:

If you put your origin point there on purpose, do what Pte Jack is saying.

If you didn't put it there intentionally, and you are not even sure what we mean by origin point (I realize we haven't defined it) then I think I'd do what I'm recommending. The origin point is that orange dot that your transformation widget (the red/blue/green arrows) are centered around. The origin point is basically an object's center point, and it can be moved around to wherever you like.

To elaborate on it what still alive said: That orange dot/ the object origin is not only the reference for modifiers like mirror but also the point that is used when snapping objects to the 3d cursor with shift S. That can be useful when distributing similar objects around a scene. Lets say windows in a building for instance. So placement of that point can be used to make certain stuff easier to handle, as it can also be the reason why things can go out of whack.

Not that I really care but shouldn't you award the person(s) giving the answer?

You are correct! Fixed :)

And thank you Still! Rotating my objects finally doesn't make me wanna scream! :lunar2019grinningpig:

You're welcome :-)

And another tip, if you move your object around in Edit mode, the origin point stays put. If you move the object around in Object mode, the origin goes with the object. So you don't want to be making unnecessary, large translations/movements with your object in edit mode. Or, you'll have to reset the origin point.

If you find it weird when rotating your objects, it might be because you were moving the mesh around in Edit mode instead of Object mode.

Thank you! That's very helpful. Been trying to use Blender for blocking and I'm quite the newbie still.

I will now leave the thread cause the OP is probably a master of Blender by now... lol
