How do I open MESH?
I tried xps convert but it keeps giving me errors. I cant find a way to convert the files to obj or fbx. These models HAD to have been opened somehow. They couldn't of been created any other way.

How do I open a MESH file in blender?

It's just mesh files, there is no fbx

Try the .xps import plugin
So the file extension is '.mesh' ?
Did you try meshlab?

I don't think so
Don't bother, just checked...if the file extension is .xps. Meshlab doesnt import that.

I just don't know what to do. I want to use this in Blender but I can't find a way to import them. They had to have been in a 3d program to be made so it MUST be possible somehow
IT might be that there is no up to date .xps importer for 2.8. However there might be some for 2.7x. So you could download a standalone 2.79, use the .xps import script (hopefully successful) and then save the imported mesh as .blend and import it again to 2.80.

Something along the lines of this maybe?

I honestly don't know. But, you don't have to find something for 2.8, and it might not exist yet. You can go back to older versions of Blender and still use any of these old plugins in these older threads though.

Going the "outdated" route might be the only option available to you, if nobody has made up to date plugins yet. And there might not be anybody left who is capable enough and cares enough to make an up-to-date plugin. So you might not ever get an updated method. Depends on how popular this particular format is.

In case you couldn't be bothered to read through my link, I'm going to paste the relevant stuff from it into this thread.

It depends on what program the .mesh was created from as there are many different versions of .mesh. The most common .mesh format that I know of is the .mesh model created for XNA models. If this is the type of model you're trying to import then you need is the one created by Johnzero7. Here... https://johnzero7.deviantart.com/journal/Blender-2-74-XPS-tools-1-7-0-629778749

So apparently there are different versions of the .mesh format itself. So looks like you'll have to find a specific plugin for the specific version you are trying to work with. Pte Jack's link looks like it is similar to P0P$'s link. This looks like the route you need to go if you are working with this XNA stuff.

You can not import them directly ,I think.

You need to use NifSkope ,You can get it from here.
http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope

It's a freeware.

You have to convert .mesh file into an OBJ file which can be imported to Blender,Maya,3d Max.

Just click an export option in Nifskop and select the format.

This NifSkope stuff was for modding Skyrim, if I remember correctly. If you are doing Skyrim stuff I'd look into these links a bit.

This is how I imported Stellaris .mesh files into blender...

1: Open google chrome
2: Go to the chrome web store and look for the ‘jorodox’ extension.
3: After you install it, open it from your programs list (under chrome extensions on window 10)
4: Once open click ‘settings’ and ‘select mod directory’
5: Select the folder containing the .mesh model and open the file.
6: In Jorodox, select explore, find your model and click convert to collada (.dae)
It should save in same location as .mesh file

You should be able to import the .dae file into Blender and export as other formats. Hopefully this will do it and save you the joy that is trawling through dead end forums.

This guy is talking about modding Stellaris, as he obviously mentioned.

Lo-fi Games made a plugin for mesh import/export for their game Kenshi. May be of some use?

And this would be the link to follow if you are doing something with Kenshi.

You could try each route above and see if any of them work for you, even if you are not doing anything for the game each link is referring to, and maybe you'll get lucky and one of them will work for you.
Yeah especially with import and export between CAD packages, and the like, the details really make it or break it.
Feel free to share the file in question so people can eventually look into it.

I did but now I realize it was on my post in the Blender discussion

Version 088.8 AKA the top one. Inside the zip is a folder named mesh, it's where I got it from. I got the mesh and texture folder.
