How to reset user preference
I just deleted and re installed but that has not solved my problem. (It saved my preferences it seemeds?) I cannot find the b.blender file that someone suggested from 2011. I tried googling.

I cannot rotate the camera with the middle mouse key. How do I reset?

Edit: I found factory settings. But the camera no longer rotates with wheel? It worked with my Windows 10 but not my Windows 8? What is going on?

Under the File menu option there is a Load Factory Settings option, it will clear any settings you have and you'll have to reset everything. If it is a blend file your opening and it's causing the problem, when you do the File Open, there is a option on the bottom of the page that had Load UI checked on. If you uncheck that, the file will open with your current settings and will not pull it from the blend file you're opening.

Thanks but has Blender changed any hotkeys recently? I cannot rotate with the middle key still.

Not that I'm aware of, Open the User Pref, goto the input tab and see if you have Emulate 3 Button mouse checked on or off. If it is on, uncheck it. Also check the Orbit Style, set it to turntable.

Some other things to check are

your mouse software as well,
For example if you have a logitech mouse and have Logitech's Setpoint loaded, it is possible that you have programmed your middle mouse button to do nothing,

or if you have background programs running that have mouse shortcuts, then it is possible that you have a mouse button conflict,

or it just might be time to buy a new mouse...

Do you have another mouse you can plug in to check?

Oh man, it's the mouse. I just checked, thank you.

I draw with this mouse, it fits my hand perfectly and doesn't hurt. =/ Oh well.

Haha. Seriously, thanks. You saved me a lot of time trying to find that out.

hahaha, No problem, remember you'll have to sneak up on them in the store when you go to get a new one or they'll scurry!
