I run the Facebook group that is on that link. We are in a process to get the discord also added there too. Its been up for a year already, none of the other blender discords can offer that.
None of the other blender discords are partnered.
I would appreciate if "Blender Discord" would clearly present themselves as independent, and not referring to be official or using the Blender logo.
Having community sites listed on blender.org is common, anyone can get links there (for decent and active websites). That doesn't make these sites official or recognised. Just linked.
If you have questions, use foundation (at) blender.org email!
Thanks.
Ton Roosendaal. Chairman Blender Foundation
It's a good community.

i don't think using a discord would be a good idea
Whether or not something is official or not, The Blender Community at discord.gg/blender is still the largest and most supported blender discord in some parts of the overall Blender community.
Asking questions on stackexchange, forum sites and the irc are still very good places to go for questions. However the discord group offers Blender artists a new experience for networking. I highly reccommend finding out what system works best for you.
For me, its instant messaging with a history that I can search to the beginning of the servers existance. This means I can search for keywords and find questions that other people. As well as asking new questions and being answered quickly by experienced users or other epic artists offering assistance.
The discord is also much more linient towards 3D artists from other programs asking for critiques on their works.
Anyway, see you around ;)
