Is Blender Legit Free?
My mom keeps saying this looks to be good to be free, and I was wondering if Blender 2.78 is actually usable for free.

Next time, research and experience on your own. If there is a price, then you know for sure. If not, then you know for sure. ;)

ahah, there is nothing you can spend money in blender, this is completely free, there is a steep learning curve, but the file size is really small, so it doesnt make your computer run slow, so you should be able to give it a try and see for yourself. Good Luck

Why would anyone not get free software that is legal?

If you want to try 3d Modeling,Sculpting, animation, texturing Blender is one for free.

Blender has almost everything you need as the others 3d software should have but offcourse not every features included in Blender.

Blender is legitimately a free open-source software. You can also download the software free, directly from their website. If you're interested in making models or objects for games, why not give it a try? Lots of engine softwares are also free to use, such as unreal, source, and unity.

Blender is free for everyone now because of a successful crowdfunding campaign back in 2002, which raised $100,000 to cover the loss of sales they could otherwise have made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blender_(software)

I only know unreal, but that isnt "compleatly" free. Its free to use and play around with, but when you go beyond that; it can and will cost.

Blender however is compleatly free

Blender is 100% free. No catch or anything - you don't give up rights to your work or have to share the money you might make from selling art created with Blender. You can sell the models and artwork you make with it, and you keep 100% of the money from your sale.

When you mom says its too good to be true, maybe she's partially right. The part that might be considered too good to be true is that for free, you are not getting software quite as powerful as the industry standards like Maya, 3ds Max, or Zbrush. But it's pretty close. Damn close. For 0$ instead of 800$ - 1500$+, you can't really complain. :steamhappy:

Wait though is Blender an add-on to anything? In other words, does it need other software to work properly?

It's standalone software.

On the other hand, there are plenty of addons for Blender to help with specific things.
