Is it possible to make a short film series using Blender?
I want to make a short film animated series. I have all of the story planned out. Each episode would be between 10 and 20 minuets long and there will be 104 episodes. I get that this will be very hard and will take years, but I'm fine with that. I'd like to know if blender is capable of all that? And what other programs I might need to achieve my goal?

Blender is capable of anything as the other 3d program like 3d Max or Maya.

The other program I did recommend to reduce your time is Substance Painter 2 which you can buy it from steam as well and it's not expensive at all, actually it's quite cheap.

It's a program that used for painting purpose but it's better than you do it in Photoshop or GIMP even Blender or Maya.

You can do modeling in Blender or any 3d programs, the rest is animation which you can do it in any program Blender or Maya even 3d Max or you can just use Source flim maker as well.

Good luck.

Thanks so much. I don't think I can afford Substance Painter 2, but at least I know I can make my animation.

These movies/shorts were all made using only Blender: (Big Buck Bunny and Sintel are the best imo, at least storywise)

So Blender itself should be able to do just about everything you want. Except for the audio I think, I don't think Blender can edit audio, other than putting the sound file alonside your video clip.

you call 150 bucks cheap?

Yeah, have a look in my profile mate.

I have almost every AAA games,so yeah I don't think 150 buck is quite expensive at all,if you are serious about your future and your works.

Even Zbrush I did not even think it's expensive at all,you can take back your investment plus benefit in one single job created from Zbrush.

If you can invested in something else which does not matter with your future at all why do you have to think so much for something that can be the first step of success ?

Someone who just starts out and wants to do a complete animated series most likely a) will quit long before they get to a point where they need anything like Substance Painter and b) won't have the skill level to use it for quite some time. So telling them to plunk down $150 for it is actually pretty bad advice. Same applies to ZBrush, of course. Both are great programs but absolutely not for beginners that won't know whether they will actually like doing 3D stuff in the long run.

Well, that's a very positive comment. FYI, I'm not going to ever quit at this. I have everything planned out and I AM going to make this series.

This wasn't meant as doubting your perseverance. I don't know you at all, after all. All I'm saying is that as a beginner to something one probably shouldn't start by spending huge amounts of money on expensive tools that one doesn't know whether one will actually need them. Talking from personal experience here. But hey, to each their own.

Okay. Yeah, I wasn't planning on spending any money on this just yet.
