Blue screen or freeze
So... I've experienced this a few times now. While using Blender (both Steam and standalone versions) it will occasionally either crash my PC (blue screen) or completely freeze my PC (have to force shutdown and turn back on again). :steamsad:

Any ideas?

What are you trying to do with Blender?
Some things eat up normal modern systems...
Is your system new/ageing/old?
Desktop or Laptop?
Windows version?

I don't tend to get total freeze ups system wise, I can pretty much always get to task manager and shut Blender down when I've told it to do something that my PC can't cope with...

I am making low poly rocks at the moment. 5 layers each with a 3 times subdivided icosphere. So not anything major.

I think it is 2-3 years old. Can't remember exactly.

System:
HP envy 15 laptop
CPU: AMD A10-5750M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics @ 2.50GHz
RAM: 8GB Kingston (not sure which model)
OS: Windows 10 Home x64

Yeah, total freeze up, can't move mouse.

The 2 blue screen stop codes I get are:
  • VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR
  • THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
I have tried everything on Microsoft's blue screen support site to no avail. What I don't understand is how this is occuring from creating no more than 50 vertices but my laptop can easily handle thousands while rendering games.

Hi again, just did a google of one of your errors and found this :

Sounds like a driver error on your laptop rather than Blender. Hope this helps you!

Thanks but already tried those.

It probably is something up with my laptop but its kinda wierd that it is only with Blender.

I'm not great at fixing this type of thing, I get by on my own PC when needed but there are many better people on here at fixing this type of problem...

Have you tried different graphics card drivers, either a roll back to one or more of the older ones or updating to the newest? Do you download you drivers from HP rather than AMD, this can make a difference from what I've been told.

I appreciate your time, thanks.

No, I'll give that a shot. I'll report back with the results...
