Blender
Bone Heat weighting failed after down scale of model.
Hello,
I made a model in blender, its now rigged too. I'll also note it was working perfectly except physics.
I then saw after setting measurements that it was acutally 62 meters high.
So i scaled this character down to 1.7m as a good avarage in human heigh.

I deleted vertex groups and applied transform to model and armature.
But when i try to parent it back with automatic weights i get an error saying as title describes.
Bone Heat weighting failed. i was not using heat. or anything, just standar automatic weights.

The bones look fine in both object and edit mode.

What is going on?
If i scale it back up to 60 meters it works. but this is not what i want.
The model will be used for scenes that where buildt with real life measurements. i cannot fit a 60 meter high human into that room now and rig it.

I have had this problem before, but I'm not sure what causes it (although it has something to do with scaling.)
Since it works when it's scaled up, what if you use automatic weights when it is 60m, then scale it down?
In the worst case, if you really have to use parent with automatic weights after scaling the model down, try cutting the model up into appropriate parts. Presumably, Blender thinks some part of the mesh is too complicated when it's scaled smaller.
By cutting it up and testing the parenting on parts of the body, you can find out what part is too complicated. Once you get one part parented, you should be able to just join up the other part(s) with it, and you might still get to keep the weight data from the bones, and not have to redo it all.

Christ almighty, thank you. For TWO DAYS I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me parent. The freaking teeth in my dinosaur were too detailed lol, I had to apply decimate modifier to them.
