Tried opening an FBX file but it shows the startup cube. HELP
I was able to open fbx files before but now all it does is just shows me the startup file cube when I opened them.

What was the FBX you wanted to open supposed to be?
In addition, have you removed the default cube in blender prior to importing the FBX?

Ah I see. That's it. Thanks. Kinda weird that I cannot open it straight away without deleting the cube and importing it in. I guess my memory is messing with me and it has always been like that.

The fbx was probably so small that the default cube was covering it.

You can't "open" an FBX.

You can import them though.

as a side note, some file formats require additional plugins in order to import them.

Go ahead and "open with blender" on an FBX file of your choosing then.
