Get your scene the way you want it, cycles and GPU compute device then save the startup file

Omg., So simple. How did i not know this? ugh lol.

I suppose you can do this with nodes as well? So if i were to group of set nodes, i could have them automatically show on any new object? Sort of how diffuse is srrt on the begining cube you start on?

Dont think so...and dont really want to change my startup file to test it for you. Guess you could try it unless you already have.

There is this:

https://sites.google.com/site/aleonserra/home/scripts/matlib-vx

It saves you having to do materials over and over again. Like say you make a material you like, you can save it to the library to be accessed later on. It's not in the default blender addons so its probably not the most stable, but works fine in daily builds I tried out.

Alternatively you can make materials and link append them into the scene your working with if you dont want a full fledged material library.

SO i tested and you can.

Just append them to your Start-up and save it! Boom! ShiftA into _> Group and there they are, yay!

When you run blender, setup the scene as you want. Unit of measure, render settings, etc. Then save that as startup file in the file menu. Now everytime you run Blender it will use those settings. It does not however fix any other file you load, only the newly created ones.
You can actually save any file or setup u might have came up with as the startup file its that *feature perfect' :D
