You can skate against each other in combo rush in the main menu. What's annoying is that, if you only skate with two, you only get a quarter of the screen, not half the screen. Unless we're doing something wrong.

You are correct, the games Combo-Rush mode is for up to 4 players to compete against each other.
The 16:9 player view port is very important when it comes to playing OlliOlli2 in the best way possible, therefore this aspect is maintained within Combo-Rush, meaning you do only get a quarter of the screen per player.
