Play the mode several times and try to remember good loot spots, routes taken and which places to avoid. Figure out what weapons and mods you prefer to use and how to get them depending on where you're dropped. Don't rush to the DZ unless there are many players in your session, which most likely won't happen nowadays. You have plenty of time and if you know where to get medication you can extend time to 1.5-2 hours.

In DZ you can upgrade everything to high-end stuff. But you don't really need it. Taking down the hunter is easy. Just try and survive the skill spamming period while increasing the distance. At one point they will come running straight towards you. Purple LMG will take down the hunter without reloads. Using high-end stuff will make the process a lot easier.

Ok thanks for the tip man
Survival is mostly a solo experience. Doesn't matter what level your regular character is, you start with nothing and accumulate gear during the survival round. Upgrade and craft items depending what you find. You are rewarded with the caches you find in game. There is thirst, hunger, freezing and toxic sepsis constantly working against you. What you find in random pickup determines how strong you will be and you must defeat a legendary Rogue hunter at the helicopter extraction zone to finish the game.

Round takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. most players are dead in twenty minutes. Going underground through basements and subway tunnels will net you better gear. Going above ground like scaffolds and rooftops will net you better gear. Always search interior apartments, to regain heat and find food/drink/meds. Always look for ambulances and pharmacy/clinics. Craft a mask early to get into contaminated zones. Avoid all enemies until you have atleast a blue level weapon or higher.

it usually takes 3-5 minutes from entering the queue, to watching the opening cinematic to start the round.
